Agent information for new health care Marketplaces
The Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight has issued information regarding the role of agents and brokers in the health insurance Marketplaces established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The 12-page memorandum outlines two pathways for agents and brokers to assist consumers: 1) through the carrier's website using the producer's Marketplace account, and 2) through the Marketplace website using the consumer's Marketplace account. Both pathways are expected to be available in the fall of 2013, and both pathways are intended to allow for producers to receive commissions from the policy carrier. The memo also includes a list of questions and answers producers will find useful in understanding their role in the Marketplaces.
A webinar titled, "Agent Broker Participation in the Individual and SHOP" has been scheduled for May 14, 2013, specifically for members of IIABA to discuss the agent and broker roles in the Marketplaces. TC Reimbursement Program lifts cap
